MACC man watched porn after quizzing Teoh....

A Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officer was found to have downloaded and watched pornography on his office computer instead of monitoring his witness, Teoh Beng Hock.

This bombshell was dropped by the royal commission of inquiry into Teoh's death panel chief Justice James Foong today.

He mentioned this in passing when Bar Council lawyer Cheow Wee was quizzing former Selangor MACC deputy director Hishamuddin Hashim on his internal memorandum which warned officers to keep an eye on visitors, witnesses or suspects when they are on the commission's premises.

At one point, Foong said that assistant superintendent Mohd Ashraf Mohd Yunus was indulging in pornography on his computer.

Foong: In my opinion, since you are by nature hardworking and in the office, why is there a relaxed attitude in your office, the way (in which) the witnesses are watched? Why is that? I want to know why there is no security?

Hishamuddin: Orders have been issued. It is up to them to take care of the witnesses.

Foong: Why you don't ask the officers what they are doing (when you are in the office at that hour)?

Hishamuddin: (They don't tell me) unless I ask.

Foong: Do you know that Ashraf(right) had downloaded pornography about 1.20am (on July 16, 2009). When an operation was going on, he was watching pornography on a website.

Taken aback, Hishamuddin responded after a short pause that “it was beyond his control” to watch over his subordinates.

“This is not work related... there must be self-initiative (to not do such things),” he said.

The incident occurred roughly an hour after he had assisted another colleague in interviewing Teoh.

Foong did not reveal how the panel came to such a conclusion but previously, the commission had instructed its private investigator Michael Leslie Squires to confiscate computers and laptops of all MACC officers directly involved in investigating Teoh.

Teoh, the political aide to Seri Kembangan assemblyperson Ean Yong Hian Wah, was taken in on July 15, 2009 and questioned on allegations of state funds misuse by his employer.

He was found dead the next day on the fifth floor service corridor of Plaza Masalam, Shah Alam. The MACC's Selangor office is located on the 14th floor of the same building.

Mufti Perak pun dimainkan oleh Utusan Meloya.....

Saya tak membisu, pernah kecam video seks aib Anwar demikian jelas Mufti Perak,Tan Sri Harussani Zakaria.

Shuib - I'm not a bystander, I take full responsibility...

One of the 'Datuk T' trio, Perkasa treasurer Shuib Lazim, has come out to clear the air over his role in the recent sex video purportedly showing an opposition politician having sex with a prostitute.

Owning up over the video, he dismissed claims that he is merely an 'innocent bystander' over the whole episode.

"I really do take full responsibility over this video," he told Malaysiakini when contacted.

This is in contrast to the claims by Sungai Petani MP from PKR Johari Abdul, who reckoned that Shuib is an unwitting accomplice to the debacle over the video, which showed a man resembling opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim engaging in a sex act with a woman claimed to be a prostitute. Johari - who is also Shuib's nepAdd Imagehew and close relative - had earlier defended his uncle and said that Shuib had told him privately that he does not think Anwar was the man in the video.

"I know my uncle and I don't think he'll go that far. I think he's just an innocent bystander... I think he is just a 'matcher' because I am his nephew. "Shuib also told me that he does not believe that it was (Anwar) in the video and I think he called me to watch it because he genuinely wanted me to see it and verify this," Johari was reported to have said last Thursday.

However, Shuib said that it could not be further from the truth. "I know that (the video) is the truth. I know that this is all real and that is why I joined the Datuk T gang. If it wasn't true, I would not have agreed to it," he said. When asked about Johari's allegations about his role, Shuib said that it was probably a case of the lawmaker wanting to “defend his boss”.

Death threats against Shuib

The 22-minute video recording was released last Monday by an initially mysterious Datuk T, who later unmasked themselves as being a 'trio' of businessman Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, former Malacca chief minister Rahim Thamby Chik and Shuib. Shuib not present at their press conference on Wednesday, it has given rise to speculation that he was not exactly a willing party.

Shuib, who sounded tired but affable over the phone, also said that he has received death threats. He refuted a New Straits Times article yesterday, however, that he had placed himself under voluntary house arrest, saying he still ventures out. "The police just told me to be careful," he said, denying that he received any police protection.

Shuib also said that he has given his statement to the police twice over the video, the most recent being just two days ago. Saying that he is still staying in his Kuala Lumpur residence, he joked that he will be going into "hiding" back in his hometown in Sungai Petani, Kedah, soon. "I nak sembunyi dah. I dah nak lari (I want to go into hiding now. I want to flee)," he said with a chuckle.

'Foolish, childish rants'

In a related development, PKR political bureau member and MP for Subang Sivarasa Rasiah warned Eskay against repeating his “foolish and childish rants” about Anwar's purported travels to Thailand or anywhere else. Sivarasa, who is also one of Anwar's legal counsels, said “no sensible person would deem it necessary to answer the sort of questions that Eskay is posturing with pretended bravado.”

"If Eskay has any specific accusations to make, then he should make them and meet the consequences, legal and otherwise," the lawyer said in a statement late last night.

Eskay is reported to have challenged Anwar to answer his questions about 'trips' to Thailand and his activities in a hotel therein. "Over the past two years, how many times has Anwar been to Thailand? Who greeted Anwar in Thailand? Which hotel did Anwar stay in? "What was Anwar doing in the hotel? And who paid for the travel expenses?" Eskay was quoted as having said yesterday. "Don't force me to reveal all of this. Ask Anwar to answer these questions before attacking me," he added.

Sivarasa said Anwar has been advised not to respond to Eskay's "foolishness".

"Eskay seems to have the benefit of BN-conferred immunity from criminal prosecution despite having openly committed the criminal offence of being in possession of an obscene video and also publicly screening it. "However any specific accusation that he chooses to make instead of these foolish vacuous questions will be met with the appropriate and stern legal riposte," said Sivarasa.

Mufti Perak - Senaman poco-poco haram...

Ahli Parlimen Sungai Petani Ahli MPT KEADILAN, Datuk Johari Abdul berkeyakinan bahawa pelakon itu bukan Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim berlandaskan faktor berikut:

“Orang Arab nak tukar sistem, susah. Sehingga (mereka) terpaksa diadakan revolusi, (tapi) kita mahu perubahan secara aman. Kita tidak mahu masalah dengan polis. Anak-anak muda Sarawak perlu buat perubahan,” katanya.

40 hingga 70 bilion USD. Rakyat miskin kerana pemimpin curi wang rakyat,” katanya.

Dirty Tricks in Malaysia....

A sex tape appears just in time to hobble the opposition again.

The latest installment in a long saga of smears against Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim is afoot, even as his second trial for alleged sodomy drags on. Three anonymous men calling themselves the "datuk trio," now exposed and under police investigation, showed a group of hand-picked journalists a video purporting to depict the former deputy prime minister having sex with a female prostitute a month earlier. The three said their motivation was to "show the truth." But as with past attacks on Mr. Anwar, the timing is politically significant: Snap elections are expected later this year.

The way in which the tape became public is also suspicious. Many of the invited journalists proceeded to impugn Mr. Anwar without revealing the identity and motivations of the tape's owners. Nor did they determine whether the tape was doctored, or other details of its provenance. Mr. Anwar's denials that he is the man on the tape, and his defense that he was busy posting on the Internet on the night in question, have been given short shrift by the country's mainstream media outlets, many of which are owned by the government and the parties in the ruling coalition.

Dirty-tricks campaigns like poison-pen letters are depressingly common in Malaysia. But public skepticism about the ever-lengthening list of allegations against Mr. Anwar suggests they may no longer have the power they once did to ruin political careers. Alternative sources of information are developing, and as Malaysians become better informed they are more independent-minded. If Mr. Anwar can convince Malaysians that he is not the man on the tape, this latest attack will only make him stronger, since it will bolster the belief at home and abroad that he is the victim of politically motivated persecution.

That would spell bad news for the ruling United Malays National Organization, which says it has nothing to do with the sex tape. Its support has been slipping away in the Malay heartland, leaving the ruling coalition vulnerable. In the March 2008 general elections, the opposition substantially increased its seats and polled 46.8% of the popular vote. Mr. Anwar then came close to toppling the government by enticing MPs to defect from the government benches. Prime Minister Najib Razak has since managed to rally government forces, but this could be a temporary reprieve. UMNO is vulnerable to complaints that corruption scandals such as that over the funding of Port Klang are occurring on its watch.

The transfer of power might have happened much sooner but for Mr. Anwar's conviction for sodomy in 1998. He served six years in prison before the Supreme Court reversed a verdict that had become a stain on the country's body politic—the defendant was beaten in custody by the inspector general of police, evidence was inconsistent and witnesses were found to have been coerced. So it's understandable that many Malaysians regarded the latest case with skepticism—especially given irregularities in the investigation, such as the lack of medical evidence and delay in collecting DNA evidence.

Mr. Anwar has maintained his innocence, but the pressure has taken its toll. While even the Islamist PKS party dismissed the latest sodomy allegations and affirmed Mr. Anwar's leadership at first, the opposition coalition has been fracturing and losing by-elections in recent months.

Many Malaysians have had enough of dirty tricks. But Mr. Anwar still faces an uphill struggle to convince a majority that despite all the smears he is a worthy leader.

Najib wants to protect Trio Amigos from Anwar.....

Is it wise to use the Whistleblower Protection Act and the Witness Protection Act to protect the 'Datuk T' trio who released a sex video involving a man said to resemble an opposition leader? This is what will be done if the authorities feel they have a case, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz had told reporters in the lobby of Parliament House yesterday.

The 'Datuk T' trio are businessman Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, former Malacca Chief Minister Rahim Tamby Chik and Perkasa treasurer Shuib Lazim. Malaysiakini called several top criminal lawyers for their opinion on whether the position taken by the de facto law minister would be proper use of the two laws.

Lawyer Baljit Singh Sidhu, who authored the book 'Criminal Litigation Process', said it would be "a misfit" to protect the three under both laws.

"Such provisions are used to protect a person who informs (the authorities) about a crime. However, there are questions about the agenda of the three, whether there is malice involved (in revealing the sex video)," he said.

"The other question is whether they truly want protection. The way they presented themselves in showing the tape is as if they do not need any protection. One of them is a former chief minister and they appeared rather gung ho in showing it." He said the act of screening the video to the public is in itself an offence.

Law cannot cover 'dirty politics'

Another lawyer, Amer Hamzah Arshad, asked whether what the trio disclosed was a criminal act that requires protection, such as affecting the security of the nation, a major corruption scandal or a scandal involving a huge corporation.

"It is merely about two consenting adults having sex. It is not illegal from a legal perspective but (is) a question of morality. However, it may have problems under Syariah law," he noted.

"Whistleblower or witness protection laws should be used on a person who leaks information about an organisation or crime committed by someone. The whistleblower law is aimed at protecting the informant of a crime committed, and is not about an immoral act," Amer said.

Furthermore, he said, this law should not be stretched to cover "dirty politics". "If you have information on a crime being committed, you should approach the authorities.

"You do not go out in public to call the press. You go to the police station and then you seek protection. They did not go to the police first and instead they screened the video."

'They revealed their identities'

Johor-based lawyer, Hisyam Teh Poh Teik, said that, in the first place, the 'Datuk T' trio had revealed their identities voluntarily.

"Since they have not complained about concerns over their safety and they have exhibited the video with great fanfare, they must be responsible for their actions," said Teh, a former Johor Bar committee chairperson.

"What they have done doesn't make sense (to require witness protection). They were proud to show the video and it is illogical now for them to ask for protection or for the authorities to (provide it to them)."

Baljit reiterated that despite what was being said, Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, who is purportedly the the person in the video, should be answerable. "He should tell the truth and the authorities themselves should work so that the truth of the whole affair is determined," he said.

Meanwhile, PKR's Balik Pulau parliamentarian,Yusmadi also questioned the manner in which the sex video scandal is being played out in the public sphere, saying that PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim is being painted as a suspect in a case where the identity of the suspect and victim have not even been established.

“There are three police reports against Datuk T, including under the Cinematography Act and for threatening Anwar and PKR president Dr Wan Azizah (Wan Ismail). Why is it they suddenly need to defend Datuk T?” he asked.

“In this case, this (exposé) is not accidental or impulsive. It was well planned and they called not just another journalist, they called the editors. They (Datuk T) should be investigated. “At this point I think they should be the suspects... in no way will we find the truth if they are protected.”

The video was shown to selected members of the press at the posh Carcosa Seri Negara hotel on March 21. The man in the footage - recorded on Feb 21 - was said to closely resemble Anwar. Anwar has denied any involvement and lodged a police report.

The 'Datuk T' trio of Eskay, Rahim and Shuib revealed their identity on March 23. Both Eskay and Rahim had their statements recorded by police last Thursday night while Shuib, who was picked up in Sungai Petani, had his statement taken at Bukit Aman the next day.- Hafiz Yatim

Video seks: Tindakan desperado UMNO....

“Kasihan Anwar!

Rakyat sedang melihat gelagat pihak berkuasa.

Sex video probe: 'Don't let AG use police'....

Inspector-general of police (IGP) Ismail Omar must ensure that the investigation of the sex video scandal is carried out free of political or other forms of pressure, said former Kuala Lumpur CID chief Mat Zain Ibrahim.

This is given the history of bad blood between two key figures - attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail and former Malacca chief minister Rahim Thamby Chik - and PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim. Anwar has denied he is the man in the video and lodged a police report.

Investigations are now underway under Section 292 of the Penal Code relating to the distribution of obscene material.

Mat Zain, who had previously emerged from retirement to point an incriminating finger at Abdul Gani for his alleged role in the 'black eye' incident of Sept 20, 1998 - involving Anwar and then IGP Rahim Mohd Noor - warned today against allowing a repeat of the debacle.

In a detailed open letter to Ismail, copies of which were distributed to the media, he said: “The investigation papers (into the sex video scandal) will be scrutinised by (Abdul) Gani as attorney-general.” At this stage, he said, it is expected that there will occur distortion, lies and fabrication just as these occurred in the investigation into the black eye incident. “We can predict the stand of Abdul Gani, what more when this issue involves a confrontation between Rahim (Thamby Chik) and Anwar.” Mat Zain said he does not personally know Rahim and has never met him.

In fact, he said, he was rather surprised when Rahim emerged as one of three personalities who admitted to being behind the screening of the sex video to journalists and editors at a luxury hotel in Kuala Lumpur last Monday. He expressed the hope that the information given to Ismail in his letter would help him to ensure justice for all the parties.

“Whatever it is, I hope Tan Sri (Ismail) will not allow the Royal Malaysian Police to be used by the attorney-general as occurred during the years before you,” added Mat Zain.

Past connections

Mat Zain had previously alleged that the investigation in 1998 into the assault on Anwar saw wilful interference as well as concealment and distortion of evidence by Abdul Gani, who was then a senior deputy public prosecutor.

The allegations arose after Mat Zain was himself accused by Anwar of fabricating evidence during the investigations.

Mat Zain also alleged that Ismail's predecessor, Musa Hassan, had worked hand-in-glove with Abdul Gani to distort the police probe into the 'black eye' incident. However, Abdul Gani and Musa were subsequently been cleared of any wrongdoing by the authorities.

Mat Zain further recounted that on Aug 20, 1999, Anwar had lodged a police report against former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad, former attorney-general Mohtar Abdullah and Abdul Gani for allegedly “protecting” Rahim from corruption allegations involving money and shares worth RM40 million.

The police report was submitted under his watch while he was KL CID chief, said Mat Zain. However, said Mat Zain, the investigation was “hijacked” and its findings “reversed” after Musa was appointed to investigate Anwar - who had cited an Anti-Corruption Agency (now the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) document in his report on Rahim - for breaching the Official Secrets Act.

“What happened was that Abdul Gani, facilitated by Musa, reversed the situation of Anwar's (police) report over Rahim, leading to Anwar being investigated under the Official Secrets Act.

“In other words, the report concerning Rahim was hijacked by Musa from the Kuala Lumpur CID,” said Mat Zain. Rahim was later cleared of any wrongdoing by Mohtar. Zain also suggested that the video scandal was the outcome of bad blood between Rahim and Anwar.

A new low for Malaysian politics...

Malaysia’s dirty politics reached a nadir last week when the local media reported on a new video featuring a man who looked like former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim having sex with a prostitute in a hotel room. Coming at a time when Anwar is battling sodomy charges in court, it makes you wonder just really how low can it go.

The video was shown to a few journalists from the mainstream media who were selected and screened in a fashion worthy of a cloak-and-dagger novel. The government-controlled media, which have played a key role in previous campaigns to discredit Anwar, violated every known ethical practice of journalism by providing graphic reports of the alleged “sex sojourn” without verifying the identities of the video’s subjects.

Typically, the source of the video was not disclosed, evoking the popular Indonesian (and Malay) saying lempar batu sembunyi tangan, which means “throw the rock, hide your hand”. No one took responsibility for screening the video, but the mainstream media played along and reported what their journalists saw. Ever willing accomplices, the media broke one of the credos of journalism: Identify your sources, especially when making allegations as serious as this.

The Malaysian media did not bother to identify the man in the video. The mere suggestion that man looked like Anwar Ibrahim was enough to cast doubt on Anwar’s credibility and integrity in the supposedly puritan yet hypocritical society. Truth and verification go out window when you are part of a propaganda machine.

The media placed the onus on Anwar to disprove the claim, something which would likely keep him busy for the next several months or even years, certainly until the next general election. We have seen this before when Anwar was first sentenced to prison for sodomy, only to have the Supreme Court to overturn his conviction in 2004.

Subsequently, new sodomy charges appeared and Anwar has been busy going to and from the courtroom. Sex, media and video conspiracies define Malaysian politics today. It gets dirtier all the time. - Jakarta Post - Editorial

Daim macam Mahathir mudah lupa.....

Anwar Ibrahim and the Struggle for Reform: A Malaysian Epic...

When Anwar Ibrahim emerged from six long years in prison, he could have retired from politics and taken to memoir-writing or the lecture circuit or catch up on lost time with his family. But he threw himself into a crusade to save the country from oppressive rule, which again put him on the path of head-on collision with Umno and the government.

He would have anticipated the bitterness with which the government would fight him, though perhaps not the depths to which they would sink in trying to destroy him. For the Barisan Nasional (BN), Anwar must be annihilated politically and personally, because Anwar advocates Reform, and real reform spells the end of the political life of the BN.

The crumbling structure of the BN is now held up by a wide array of oppressive laws such as the Internal Security Act, Sedition Act, Police Act, Printing Press and Publications Act; and by tainted institutions such as the police, judiciary, attorney-general's office and the Election Commission. BN leaders know that Anwar's reforms will sweep away those laws, redeem those institutions and thus bring about the death of their coalition.

But it is Anwar's astonishing resilience and fighting spirit that has captured the imagination and admiration of ordinary Malaysians. Though facing terrible odds, he never once gave up. Since 1998, they have thrown everything they have at him, yet he is still standing and still defiant. The government is baffled, their strategy is in tatters; hence, the desperate and now widely discredited sex-tape smear attempt against Anwar. The involvement of former Melaka Chief Minister Tan Sri Rahim Tamby Chik leaves no doubt of Umno's constant plotting against Anwar and their complicity in the sex-tape conspiracy.

Both Dr.Mahathir and Najib thought they could crush Anwar and his reform movement with massive state power and financial muscle; neither men foresaw Anwar's titanic and ceaseless struggle. The fact and manner of his struggle itself has brought positive change to the country; the people's expectations of the government has radically changed and they make their just demands with a boldness unheard of in the pre-reformasi era.

Anwar's epic struggle has put our nation through a process of appreciating, asserting and regaining our rights as citizens and led to a maturing of our democracy. Indeed, there appears to have been a special providence in the fall and rise of Anwar Ibrahim. Like Burma's Aung San Suu Kyi, Anwar Ibrahim is Malaysia's indispensable, necessary politician.

Sex video - Look who's talking now....

Chua Soi Lek should know better than to criticise another politician's moral values since he too was once the victim of a politically-motivated sex video scandal, says PKR vice president Tian Chua.

Tian Chua, who is also Batu MP, slammed the MCA president's statement reported in Star yesterday ('Prove it was not you in sex video, Chua (Soi Lek) tells Anwar', Star Mar 26) calling for the PKR de facto leader to prove his innocence.

Soi Lek told Star, “The onus is on Anwar to prove that he is not involved in the video and it is a golden opportunity for him to prove that he is innocent and give his fullest cooperation to the police in the course of the investigation.”

Tian, in a statement today, criticised the MCA president for capitalising on the recent sex video screening in Kuala Lumpur that attempted to implicate Anwar as the perpetrator.

“Truly, I did not expect Chua Soi Lek to stoop to such a comment. I thought he would be the last person to criticise the moral values of another politician,” said Tian.

“I'm sure Malaysians felt a collective sense of nausea when a politician who himself has personal issues that are publicly known, tries to comment on morality and integrity.

“Everyone in Malaysia knows about the sex scandal involving Chua; he had himself admitted to having an extramarital sexual liaison with another woman that was caught on video.

“Furthermore, Chua was also a victim of a filthy political conspiracy. At the time the video was exposed, his enemies had used the morality issue to force him to resign,” reminded Tian.

'Opposition refrained from cheap shots'

The PKR vice president reminded Soi Lek that throughout that low point in the MCA politician's career, the opposition had refrained from capitalising on his predicament for mileage.

“I wish to remind Dr Chua that the opposition have never exploited the situation then for cheap political gains,” said Tian.

Tian says the opposition had all along held on to their principles of not playing up their political opponent's private issues or degraded their dignity in such a manner as has happened to Anwar.

“Umno's plot to slander Anwar through the sex video of late is rejected by the rakyat, especially since its lead characters like Rahim Thamby Chik pretend to champion morality and integrity,” said Tian.

He said Rahim's excuse that he had engineered the screening of the sex video at Carcosa “to ensure our future leaders had high morals”was a national joke.

“Even more amusing is Chua Soi Lek then started talking about morals. From his arguments he seems to agree with the methods of dirty politics played by Rahim and his friends. Is Chua confident of the moral purity of Rahim Thamby Chik?”

“I do not need to comment on these individuals whether they have a clean record that qualifies them to speak on morality and ethics, but I trust the rakyat are smart enough to assess their actions and credibility for themselves,” said Tian.

On Jan 1, 2008 the MCA president and then health minister admitted at a press conference that he was the man in a leaked sex video that broke the previous year. At the press conference he said the reason for the secret video clip was "very obvious", hinting that he was a victim of a political conspiracy within his party.

Its not the question of genuine or doctored but whether it was Anwar or not....

Like a tribal king rallying his subject for a battle, Anwar called on his constituents to rally behind him to maintain and strengthen Permatang Pauh as PKR's impregnable fortress.

The political battle line between Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat, or specifically between Umno and PKR, has been drawn over the sex video, allegedly featuring PKR supremo Anwar Ibrahim. While BN sets the argument that the main question over the sex video was to verify its authenticity, Pakatan’s argument is on whether the main actor was Anwar or not.

In the immediate future, both parties are surely expected to go to town with their respective cases, hoping to mould the voters’ mind to a particular perception. This was evident from the arguments aired by Pakatan leaders during a PKR-organised road show themed “Siapa Dalang Fitnah” (Who were behind the lies) to counter the sex video scandal in Anwar’s parliamentary constituency Permatang Pauh last night.

“It’s not about whether the video was genuine or doctored.

“It’s all about whether it was Anwar or not.

“I believe that the person in the tape was not Anwar . . . I am sure about that,” thundered PKR’s fiery orator Badrul Hisham Shaharin when concluding the rally before some 2,000 people who braved heavy rain. Badrul, or better known as Chegu Bard, has seen the sex clips twice continuously in Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

He was shown the tape by former Malacca Chief Minister and Risda (Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority) chairman Abdul Rahim Tamby Chik, businessman Shazryl Eskay Abdullah and another unidentified person.

Yesterday Prime Minister and Umno president Najib Tun Razak said the core question over the sex tape was whether the tape was authentic or not, because if it was genuine, a sin had been committed.

Johari’s four reasons

Earlier at the rally, Sungai Petani MP and PKR parliamentary deputy whip Johari Abdul, who had also viewed the video, insisted that the actor was definitely not Anwar.

“I can swear upon my late parents, it was not him (Anwar),” he said.

He gave four reasons to affirm his belief.

“The male actor has a belly, fair complexion, muscular and has more flesh on his bottom. “All these are not features of Anwar,” he said. "All these are not features of Anwar,” he said.

In his address, DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng insisted that only persons of high esteem, not Rahim or MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek, should talk about political moral virtues. He took a swipe at Najib for suggesting that Umno was not behind the latest sex scandal that had caught fire across the country.

“Rahim is an Umno member and Risda chairman.“Umno still not involved?” he asked to the avidly responsive crowd,

Unlike the interrupted Friday night rally in Taman Melawati, Gombak, the Permatang Pauh rally went on smoothly despite rain and police massive blockade in all main roads leading to the venue. The police checks caused massive traffic congestions along the roads.

The star of the show

The star of the show was of course parliamentary Opposition Leader Anwar, who surprisingly did not touch much on the sex video. He had left the job to clear his name and image to his comrades like Chegu Bard and Johari. But of course the Permatang Pauh favourite son was at his fiery best taking pot shots at Umno and Najib in particular.

Pointing out that Islamic law severely punishes conspirators and liars, he warned Najib and company to be wary about being the perpetuators behind the latest sex allegation against him.

“Najib is the main man behind the sex video conspiracy. I will defy if he denies it,” he said.

Like a tribal king rallying his subject for a battle, Anwar called on his constituents to rally behind him to maintain and strengthen Permatang Pauh as PKR’s impregnable fortress. Anwar also looked determined to strike out the latest sexual allegations. Based on the undercurrent sentiments, he may have gained an upper hand in this issue.

Perhaps the video may have given the impetus to revitalise and rejuvenate Anwar, who appears to be out of sorts in recent months, perhaps due to the taxing Sodomy ll trial.

On last night’s show, it was obvious that Permatang Pauh folks are still strongly behind their tribal king. Currently their most famous son appears to be edging out in this political perception game, at least in Permatang Pauh.- athi sankar

Najib endorsing political blackmail.....

A Kedah PKR strongman has expressed shock that Prime Minister Najib Razak appears to have endorsed the campaign to politically blackmail his opponent. The party's state committee member said that Najib, as PM, should stay far and above gutter politics when a sex video allegedly linked to an opposition leader become public knowledge on Monday.

Or else, Najib, who is also BN and Umno chief, was not fit to helm the country, added PKR's state committee member Gooi Hsiao Leung (seated at centre in photo).

"Instead, it is shocking that he is calling for a thorough police investigation, with the help of experts in the field of video editing to determine the authenticity of the sex video," he said. "Najib has failed in his responsibility as PM of the country to outrightly condemn the actions of the Datuk T trio," added Gooi, a lawyer by profession. "He should demand that the police take immediate action against the criminal acts of the trio for screening pornographic video to the media and having committed political blackmail," he added.
Umno on character assassination binge

Gooi, who stood as a candidate for the Alor Setar parliamentary seat in the last general election, was responding to Najib's statement last night that the main issue was whether the video was genuine or not. The police should be allowed to do a rapid and professional job to verify whether the video was doctored or not, he was reported as saying.

Najib had also attempted to distance Umno from the video depicting Opposition Leader and PKR supremo Anwar Ibrahim allegedly having sex with a prostitute. However, Gooi said by endorsing dirty politics, Najib shows that Umno is desperate to character assassinate Anwar, who is Permatang Pauh MP, in whatever way they can. This clearly shows that Umno has no confidence in facing Anwar's challenge for Putrajaya, he added.

"Umno is wallowing in a campaign to destroy Anwar's reputation, even though no crime has been alleged to have been committed by Anwar," he said.

"Umno behaves as though they are already going to lose the next general election," he added.

Gerakan joins in by launching broadside

Meanwhile, a Penang Gerakan leader has taken de facto law minister Nazri Abdul Aziz to task for implying that the trio who exposed the video needed to be protected. The party's human rights bureau chief Baljit Singh was upset that Nazri had urged the public "not to kill the messenger". By saying so, Nazri appears to be a "defective", not de facto, law minister, charged Baljit. "The video should have been taken to the police and not shown to the media.

"When they show it like this, it seems as if it is 'directly or indirectly' aligned to a political party," said the lawyer. He was responding to Nazri, who recently defended the trio by urging the public not to raise issues that are not central to the one at hand.
Law suffering from myopic vision

However, two of the trio - honorary consul general of Thailand in Malaysia Shazryl Eskay Abdullah and former Malacca chief minister Rahim Thamby Chik - are highly controversial individuals linked to Umno. Baljit expressed sadness that the country has gone down to gutter politics where the police appear to be practising double standards in their handling of the recent case.

He questioned if the trio had obtained police permit to screen the video and if police had acted on the former if they had failed to do so.

"Others need to apply for police permits for such things, for example, even to organise a forum on the Interlok issue, Hindraf was told to get permits. When they did not, they were arrested," he added.

He also criticised those who called for a royal commission of inquiry to determine the authenticity of the video. He said the government did not find it necessary to call a RCI when a Malaysian citizen and DAP political aide - Teoh Beng Hock - died while in the custody of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. "And now they want a RCI to investigate two adults having sex?" he asked.- Susan Loone

Najib - No,no,no UMNO not involved.....

Najib Abdul Razak said today that UMNO had nothing to do with the sex video alleged to involve an opposition leader.

“The question is whether the tape is authentic or not because if it is genuine, a sin had been committed. This is what has to be determined first,” the prime minister and UMNO president said.

“There are those inclined towards conspiracy theories which distract from the core question of whether this sinful act occurred and was recorded,” he told reporters after chairing an UMNO supreme council meeting in Kuala Lumpur.
